Amazon CLP Regulation | Simply explained

CLP Regulation

The CLP Regulation (Classification, Labelling and Packaging) sets guidelines for the classification, labelling, and packaging of chemical products in the European Union. It aims to ensure that consumers have access to critical hazard information about chemical products before purchase.

  • Online Vendor Responsibility: Vendors must display hazard warnings on product detail pages, providing relevant hazard statements, pictograms, and signal words as per the EU CLP.
  • Safety Data Sheets (SDS): Sellers are required to submit a safety data sheet for each hazardous product, ensuring it is the latest version and includes all 16 sections.
  • Exclusions: Not all chemical products require an SDS under CLP, such as cosmetics, food, and medicinal products.

Failure to comply may result in product removal from the market. Proper hazard communication empowers consumers to make informed purchase decisions.
