E-mobility Devices
E-mobility devices refer to small, low-speed, electric-powered transportation options such as electric bicycles (e-bikes), electric scooters (e-scooters), hoverboards, self-balancing unicycles, and more. These devices must adhere to applicable laws, regulations, standards, and policies regarding their sale on platforms like Amazon.
E-mobility devices do not include toys, which are defined as products intended for play by children aged 14 or younger. For example:
- Hoverboards have two wheels and a board, directing movement through the user’s posture.
- Self-balancing unicycles use sensors and motors for balance without handles.
- Electric skateboards include batteries to aid riders with torque.
- Electric scooters possess two or more wheels with motor assistance.
Compliance involves ensuring these products follow directives such as the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, RED 2014/53/EU, and RoHS 2011/65/EU, with documentation and testing from accredited laboratories required.
Additionally, e-mobility items must meet specific power and speed regulations depending on the country of sale to ensure safety and legality.
