EC Fertilizers Regulation
The EC Fertilizers Regulation sets specific requirements for mineral fertilizers sold in the EU. It includes chemical, technical, and labeling guidelines to ensure product safety and effectiveness.
- Labeling: Products must be marked as “EC Fertilizer” to circulate freely within the EU. This designation is applied only if the product meets certain nutrient effectiveness standards.
- Responsibilities: Manufacturers are required to ensure product traceability and maintain records of their origin, which must be available for inspections.
- Scope: The regulation affects manufacturers, importers, and suppliers altering fertilizer characteristics.
Effective from July 16, 2022, the regulation will be replaced by the new EU Fertilizing Products Regulation (EU) 2019/1009, introducing expanded requirements and classifications. Manufacturers are responsible for compliance, and non-compliance may result in market restrictions.
