Amazon EC Fertilizers Regulation | Simply explained

EC Fertilizers Regulation

The EC Fertilizers Regulation sets specific requirements for mineral fertilizers sold in the EU. It includes chemical, technical, and labeling guidelines to ensure product safety and effectiveness.

  • Labeling: Products must be marked as “EC Fertilizer” to circulate freely within the EU. This designation is applied only if the product meets certain nutrient effectiveness standards.
  • Responsibilities: Manufacturers are required to ensure product traceability and maintain records of their origin, which must be available for inspections.
  • Scope: The regulation affects manufacturers, importers, and suppliers altering fertilizer characteristics.

Effective from July 16, 2022, the regulation will be replaced by the new EU Fertilizing Products Regulation (EU) 2019/1009, introducing expanded requirements and classifications. Manufacturers are responsible for compliance, and non-compliance may result in market restrictions.
