EU Deforestation-Free Products Regulation (EUDR)
The EU Deforestation-Free Products Regulation (EUDR) aims to prevent deforestation and forest degradation linked to certain commodities within the EU. Effective from June 29, 2023, it prohibits the sale, import, and export of specified products, such as cattle, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, rubber, soy, and wood, unless they are deforestation-free and comply with the production country’s legislation. This regulation replaces the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR), with key dates for full compliance set for December 2025 and June 2026, depending on business size. EUDR requires due diligence and documentation for compliance, influencing operators, traders, and involved enterprises within and outside the EU.
