Amazon Image Variants | Simply explained

Image Variants

Image variants are additional images displayed on a product detail page, besides the main image. These images can show the product in use or in various environments, provide different angles, and highlight unique features. At least six clear and informative images are recommended to help customers assess the product effectively.

When uploading images using the Image Manager, vendors might find pre-selected image variant types based on product style guides. If a desired variant isn’t pre-selected, vendors can select a different variant identifier code manually.

Here’s an overview of image variants and their codes:

  • Main image: Shows in search results and is the primary image (Code: MAIN).
  • Product safety and compliance: Displays safety information and warnings (Codes: PS01, PS02, etc.).
  • Swatch shots: Thumbnail color sample images (Code: SWCH).
  • Variants: Show additional angles, use scenarios, or product details (Codes: PT01, PT02, etc.).
  • Interior shots: Usually for book sample pages (Codes: IN01, IN02, etc.).
  • Angle shots: Show product angles or sides (Codes: TOPP, BOTT, etc.).
  • Ingredient information: Ingredients information (Code: INGR).
  • Energy efficiency labeling: Show energy labels and info sheets.
  • Energy guide: Show energy guide images (Code: EEGL).
  • Multipack image: Show multiple packaged items together (Code: DTLS).

These codes need to be included in the image file name when uploading through the Bulk Image Upload tool. Proper naming guidelines should be followed for bulk uploads.
