Italian Packaging Law

The Italian Packaging Law requires all packaging for consumer goods in Italy to be labeled with specific information. This includes an alphanumeric code indicating the type of material (e.g., “PAP Code” following Decision 97/129/EC of the European Commission) and instructions on how to dispose of it properly to encourage recycling.

The law enforces the implementation of EU Directives on waste and packaging waste. Businesses producing or selling in Italy must comply by using either physical or digital labeling methods, ensuring consumers can easily access the necessary disposal instructions. Resellers and suppliers need to adhere to these regulations, and compliance may be verified by authorities.
