LVD Directive
The LVD Directive (2014/35/EU) ensures safety for electrical equipment operating with a low voltage range within the EU. It sets essential safety requirements to protect humans, domestic animals, and property from hazards such as electric shock and fire.
- Scope: Applicable to all electrical equipment designed for use with a voltage rating between 50 and 1000 volts for alternating current and between 75 and 1500 volts for direct current.
- Compliance: Manufacturers, importers, and distributors must ensure products meet the directive’s safety standards before making them available in the market.
- Marking: A CE marking on the product signifies that it conforms to the directive’s requirements.
All parties involved in the sale or distribution of electrical products in the EU must ensure compliance to avoid legal repercussions or product withdrawal.
