Plant Protection Products (PPP)

Plant Protection Products (PPP), commonly known as pesticides, are regulated in the EU under Regulation 1107/2009. They protect crops, influence plant processes, and preserve plant products. In the UK, PPPs must adhere to the amended EU Regulation due to Brexit.

  • Compliance: It is mandatory for suppliers selling PPPs in the EU and UK to ensure compliance with respective local regulations.

  • Registration: PPPs must be registered in the member state or approved by the UK Health and Safety Executive before sale. Unauthorized active substances prevent registration.

  • Packaging and Labeling: PPPs must be packaged to avoid confusion with food or drinks. Labels must follow EU and UK regulations, including safety phrases and information about active substances and permitted user categories.

Manufacturers, suppliers, and other stakeholders must maintain records for at least five years, accessible to authorities upon request.
