Recommended Retail Price (RRP)
The Recommended Retail Price (RRP), also known as the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP), is the suggested selling price for a product set by the manufacturer. Providing an RRP helps customers understand the value of the product and can be displayed in various areas such as product detail pages and search results.
- The RRP should represent the actual price used by the vendor or other retailers, excluding temporary discounts.
- Vendors must ensure that the RRP remains current and accurate.
If the RRP does not meet these criteria, it is recommended to leave the field blank when listing a product. If unverifiable or misleading, vendors risk the RRP not being displayed.
Aside from the RRP, a Was price might be used for historical price comparison, based on prices paid by customers, excluding promotional periods. Additionally, discount durations must comply with legal stipulations, such as a maximum of 30 days in some European markets, with intervals between discounts to ensure customer satisfaction.
