Amazon Return Merchant Authorization (RMA) | Simply explained

Return Merchant Authorization (RMA)

Return Merchant Authorization, or RMA, is a process used in Vendor Central to manage product returns from Amazon. According to contractual agreements, Amazon can return products due to overstock or damage without a specific return authorization from the vendor. If a vendor does not respond to an RMA request within 7 calendar days, returns are automatically processed based on the purchasing terms specified in the contract.

  • Tracking: Vendors can track return requests and check the status via the Vendor Central portal.
  • Documentation: Detailed return information such as purchase order, item description, return reason, and tracking number can be found on the packing slip.
  • Disputes: Vendors can create disputes through Vendor Central if there are discrepancies with return addresses or other issues.

Properly managing RMAs helps ensure compliance with contractual obligations and can prevent disputes regarding the return process.
