Spanish Packaging Regulation
The Spanish Packaging Regulation requires that all packaging sold in Spain be labeled to inform customers on proper disposal to aid collection, reuse, recovery, and recycling. Effective January 1, 2025, this law stems from Royal Decree 1055/2022 and Law 7/2022 and implements EU Directives 2018/851 and 2018/852.
- Requirements: Packaging must show where waste should be disposed and list the materials used. Different materials need separate labeling, or if inseparable, label the predominant material.
- Compostable Packaging: Must certify compliance with UNE EN 13432.
- Reusable Packaging: Must indicate reusability and deposit-return symbols.
All parties, including resellers, must comply. Amazon may ask for compliance proof. Labels must be visible, readable, and in Spanish.
