UKCA Marking
The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking is a product certification mark used for goods being placed on the market in Great Britain. It came into effect after Brexit and will become mandatory from January 1, 2025, replacing the CE mark in the UK.
-
Implementation Date: From January 1, 2025, CE marked products imported into the UK must bear the UKCA mark, either on the product, its label, or accompanying documentation. Direct placement on the product becomes mandatory after December 31, 2027.
-
Conformity Assessment: Products requiring third-party assessment must obtain a conformity assessment certificate from a UK notified body (NB) starting in 2028.
-
Documentation: A UK Declaration of Conformity must accompany the product, listing compliance details with UK legislation and standards.
-
Northern Ireland Considerations: The UKCA mark alone is insufficient for Northern Ireland, necessitating the CE mark, and in some cases, a UKNI mark.
This detailed framework aims to ensure that products meet UK regulatory standards for safety and compliance following the UK’s departure from the EU.
